Mr Chris Hawker

Chair of Governors

Chris has worked in IT for over 30 years and is currently employed by a large US multinational company. He has been a school governor for 16 years at Lavant CE Primary School and during that time has supported governors at other primary schools, both locally and elsewhere in West Sussex. He was designated a National Leader of Governance in March 2015 and has been a governor at Central since that time.                                          

Mrs Hilary Loder

Hilary's teaching career has spanned a range of phases and sectors.  She has been a senior leader for over 15 years working as a school based LA inclusion consultant and as an Associate for the National College of Teaching and Leadership alongside headship.   She is currently the independent chair of the Portsmouth Education Partnership and works with Guildford Diocese as an adviser/consultant.  As a practising Christian she believes that church schools and academies have a unique role to play in preparing children for life through education and this drives her interest in and commitment to the work of DCAT.                              

Revd Tim Ward

Tim was educated at Oxford taking degrees in Modern History and Theology as well as a PGCE.  He taught history to 'A' Level before being ordained.  He has been involved in church school governing bodies since 1995 serving two secondary and three primary schools.  In his previous diocese he was a member of the Board of Education.  Tim is also a voluntary chaplain to Bishop Luffa Sixth Form and takes regular assemblies both there and in his own parish primary.                                

Mr Darren Carpenter

Darren Carpenter is the Chief Operating Officer of the Diocese of Chichester Academy Trust. He has worked in school finance and business management for a number of years.  He has provided School Business Management consultancy to a number of maintained and independent schools in the UK and further afield and held governor roles in a number of schools and academies over a ten year period.

Safeguarding Governor and Looked after Children

Paul is the minister of Immanuel Church, an Anglican congregation which meets at Central School. Before ordination, he was a police officer in London and once ordained has served in parish ministry and chaplaincy in the Royal Air Force. Before moving to Chichester Paul was a governor at a local C of E secondary school. He is is married to Lorraine, a local primary school teacher and they have four children, the youngest of whom is at Central CE Academy.                            

Mrs Bernadette Condron

Bernadette is the mum of a child in year 4 who is extremely happy and motivated at school. All of her children have thoroughly enjoyed their journey through education and she is sure will continue to do so.


Bernadette has a business background as the Operations Director of a large manufacturing company before moving to Sussex and is now lucky enough to be able to work part time which enables her to help in classes with reading, go on school trips and be the mum of 4 sports mad boys which keeps her busy the rest of the time!


She is very keen to support the school in any way she can and was delighted to have the opportunity to become a Parent Governor. Bernadette is looking forward to working with her fellow governors and contributing to the continued development of all aspects of school life.
